What to Write when you don't know what to write

Recently I announced the launch of my first Kickstarter, which I’m using to raise funds to cover the self-publishing costs of my next novel, Ashes for William. (be a part of the Kickstarter project with me here)

A question came up in conversation when I was telling a writer friend from one of my previous retreats about the project. She asked, “How do you write when you don’t know what to write?”

Great question! I chose to answer in the following YouTube video so that I could help her as well as many others who have the same challenge. I started to list three tips for writing ideas, but squeezed in a fourth:

I hope you found this helpful! I tried to answer in a way that applies to creative people in general, and not only writers. Across the board, we have so much in common when we peek into another discipline, such as art, music, or dance.

If you found a nugget of inspiration in this, please share it with another friend and let me know. I hope to do more of these in the future, so feel free to send me your question, too!

Back to the Kickstarter for just a moment – I’m overwhelmed with the support that friends, family, and readers have shown so far. As of the moment I’m writing this, the project is at 77% of the goal, and I just launched it a couple of days ago. Thank you to everyone who has shown support in any way – of this, and my writing at large. I hope to continue to bring you entertaining or inspiring stories through LifeSoup, future novels, poetry, and any other method that bubbles up.

Speaking of future novels, if Kickstarter isn’t your jam, please know that Ashes for William will be published in early March and you can then order it from your local bookseller, Amazon, or KDP, as you would any other book. I’ll share more about that when it’s available.

Thank you for reading, watching the video above, and for being a part of this thing I call LifeSoup. πŸ™‚

Peace, love, and progress,
CherieDawn
