Recently, my husband, Dwayne, heard about a new interactive museum in Columbus, Ohio – for us this is about a two-hour drive. The museum is called “Otherworld” and if you have kids or are a kid at heart, it’s worth the drive.

The museum was created by a team of artists whose creativity knows no limits. Their website tells us: “We are a team of creatives with backgrounds in technology, metalworking, sculpting, digital fabrication, fine arts and other forms of visual media.
We’ve worked on projects including Burning Man, museum exhibits, art installations, haunted attractions, theme parks and escape rooms.”

I believe it! The museum, set up in a maze-like series of rooms, is visually stunning. You’re invited to touch everything you see (gently, of course) because there are hidden treasures of artistry and surprises in places you might not expect.

There’s even a fun scavenger hunt on which you can embark. If you go, ask about the “clues” and they’ll tell you what you need to know. 😉

We were there for almost three hours, exploring the rooms several times in some cases because they really are just that cool. There is a snack bar available, and your wristbands should get you all-day access, so you can leave for lunch and then come back. (Ask at the desk to make sure this is still the way it works.)

If you want to follow in our Columbus road-trip footsteps, start at Otherworld early in the day, then get a major change of scenery and visit the nearby Heritage Square Antique Mall. The antique mall is comparable to the Florence Antique Mall in Kentucky, or the Ohio Valley Antique Mall (but smaller).

By the time we browsed aisles of antiques, we where hungry. Okay, I was almost hangry.

We headed back toward Otherworld to a restaurant near it that’s called Cajun Boil Bar. It was so dang yummy. And messy. They gave us bibs AND gloves! So the food was awesome and we had a lot of fun with the meal. Oh! And the prices were great, too.
