Chaos Queen for a Day

An excerpt from the LifeSoup newsletter, November 2023

Sometimes when we have a deep love for something in the past, we try to grasp it. That usually doesn’t work.

I learned this lesson (again, as we do), recently when I unreasonably booked myself to be in multiple places, hoping that if I willed it enough, it would be possible to do “all the things.” It’s not, and it ended up with me having to apologize to those closest to me. I’m sharing this in case you see yourself in the situation, and it can help you either apologize or find compassion for someone who was in my shoes. If you’ve ever been part of a marching band, athletics, or similar group, you might relate… (Content for Newsletter Subscribers only – Sign up here!)

What If We All …

This is a new section for LifeSoup, where I plan to include suggestions on what each of us can do to try to nudge the Earth needle just a smidge in a more sustainable direction. A smidge! Don’t get excited or offended. 😉

Here goes: What If We All … tried to incorporate a milk alternative into our diets. I prefer the refrigerated almond or soy milk and use many of the variations (sweetened, unsweetened, vanilla, etc). They’re great for cereal, coffee, oatmeal, smoothies, and more. Tip: The only thing I’ve found they don’t work for is pudding because they don’t “set.” You can find these at many stores right next to the cow’s milk, including Kroger, Meijer, Aldi, and even Walmart has a generic Great Value brand that I like.

I won’t go into all the details of why it’s important to begin moving away from animal products because you are probably already aware of the issues. All we can do is start trying to make a little difference where we’re willing and able.

Give it a try, lmk what you think!
