Cherie Dawn Haas - books to read

For your reading list: Books on creativity, writing, yoga, and some guilty pleasure fiction just for fun!

Recently I snuggled up on my porch swing as the sun came up, my coffee in one hand and a contemporary novel in the other. It was delightful! I normally focus on nonfiction, so it was a nice change to read a story just for entertainment. (Of course, as a writer, I’m also looking at it with a different eye – when you’re an artist, art is everywhere.)

As we move into the cooler months, it’s a good time to start planning your reading list so I thought I’d help you get a good start. For October, I’m sharing 12 of my favorite books on topics I love and that I think, as LifeSoupers, you’ll love, too.

A suggestion on what each of us can do to try to nudge the Earth needle just a smidge in a more sustainable direction. A smidge! Don’t get excited or offended. 😉

Here goes: What If We All … started making it a habit of drinking from a reusable water bottle? I’m notorious for having one with me at all times (see above, lol, but it’s almost invisible!), and I fill it as needed throughout the day. You might be surprised by how easy it is and how much money you’ll save, not to mention how much plastic you can reduce. I use the water tab on the soda fountain at gas stations and fast food restaurants, or fill up at any sink that’s available (and clean, obv.).

When my husband and I throw parties, I fill up a large, pretty glass pitcher with ice water instead of having individual bottles – everyone knows that these often get wasted at parties, where people lose track of their drink and then it gets pitched. I have reusable plastic cups on hand, and years ago we started a fun tradition of writing our names with permanent markers on our cup for each specific party. Give it a try, lmk what you think!
