Going Under the Covers

Have you ever had to make a choice that seemed like one of the biggest of your life? Sometimes we have to go quiet and listen to our internal voice – also referred to as listening to your gut or following your heart – to tell us what to do. (That’s one of the reasons I love to meditate*. It helps me quiet my “thinking” mind and tap more into my spirit and intuition.)

Last night I met with my friend and graphic designer, Brianna, who has been working for weeks on potential cover designs for my new book, Ashes for William. I loved hearing about her creative process and inspiration and I thought you would find it interesting to go behind the scenes with me and see how this novel is finding its way to publication.

When Brianna and I met, she showed me various concepts with different illustrations and treatment of the title and the byline. One thing we have to take into consideration is that most readers will first see this book online, so we talked about what the “thumbnail” version of the cover looks like – not just how it will appear when it’s a 6×9-inch book in the reader’s hands. (Another insider note is that I chose 6×9 because it’s the same size as one of my favorite best-selling novels.)

Because you’re part of my LifeSoup family and I appreciate you so much, I’m sharing with you this exclusive sneak peek at the potential covers. Feel free to hit “reply” and let me know which one is your favorite to help me make this choice. 🙂

I’ll have a few more options in the near future but couldn’t wait to share these for now. Once I have the final cover, I’ll complete the Kickstarter project page with it and will launch.

Research shows that most successful Kickstarters have a majority of people backing them within the first days of the launch, so please mark your calendar for February 1 if you plan to support the publishing of Ashes for William. Of course, I’ll share the link as soon as it’s available.

As always, thank you for reading!

Until next time,

Cherie Dawn
