Hello, friends.

This month, I’m sharing with you a poem about a quiet winter moment. It’s from my book, Personified, which you can read for free right now through Kindle Unlimited – my gift to you, to hopefully bring you some extra joy during these cold days of February.

It’s surprising, how many times I’ve seen you
Your shocking red feathers, making snow somehow seem even more white, in contrast.
I studied you in school, the Kentucky state bird,
Winged symbol of horses and bluegrass
I think I may have ignored your voice, all these years
Because now, as I sit reading about finding—publishing—my voice,
I feel like I’ve heard you for the first time.
When I finally raised my head to see who was chirping,
There you were
On a wire, crimson body making the sky somehow seem even more blue, in contrast.
Here I am! You said
And my inked reply, in my voice, is
I am here, now.

Thank you for reading this. Remember to read Personified on Kindle here, or get the physical copy. It’s now available at the Kentucky Artisan Center, or you can order it through your local bookstore, or even your library.

Stay warm, and stay inspired,
Cherie Dawn
