Welcome to this edition of LifeSoup.
Friends, it’s September of 2021, and many of us are struggling with the reality that Covid is still so greatly impacting our lives, our work, and our relationships.
Take this as a reminder to breathe, and not just breathe on auto-pilot, but to close your eyes once in a while and just take a deep breath. Go ahead, do it now. I’ll wait.
We have a lot of work ahead of us, and it will always be there waiting to be done. When you feel overwhelmed by what’s happening internationally, locally, or perhaps within your own inner circle, remember to take care of yourself by starting small. Stay hydrated (when’s the last time you drank a glass of pure water?), carve out some quiet time (five minutes before bed, or turn the radio off while driving), and list what you’re grateful for.
One thing I’m grateful for is that I had the opportunity to attend the PlayThink Festival earlier this summer. There, I sat in on a Shamanic Journey workshop that included visualization practices and singing. My friend, Leila, kindly gave me permission to record and upload her songs, and you can listen to them here (look for the videos that show a beautiful tree as the cover image).
I’m also grateful that I’m still hearing from readers who enjoyed my first novel, Girl on Fire. If you’re in a book club (or want to host a random book club night) and would like to feature it, feel free to reach out to me (cheriedawnlovesfire (at) gmail.com). You can read the description and reviews at http://bit.ly/GirlOnFireBook.
Recently I was interviewed by Caitlin Polasek of Briar Rose Consulting about the opening line in my book of poetry, Personified. Click here to read our interview: “What do you want to do?”
As always, thank you for taking the time to read this. I know there are a lot of messages coming through your inbox, and I appreciate that you find this one worthy to open. Stay well.
Until next time,
Cherie Dawn
