This month I have so many things to share with you, from podcasts to poetry and beyond!
First, I had the pleasure of joining Linda Reisenberg Fisler for another Art Chats podcast in which we welcomed a special guest: actress and dancer Joanna Pang Atkins, who starred in the CBS show “The Secrets of Isis,” to a conversation on gestures.
We explore the concept of gesture to artists, writers, and dancers. Make sure you watch the video toward the end – Joanna and I both share a variety of images from our performances and discuss the dynamic gestures shown. (Artists are welcome to use these as photo references – if you do, let us know, as we’d love to see them!) [listen now]
Here in the Cincinnati, Ohio area, we’re coming up on the time change, which means more daylight hours, and I seriously, truly, 100% cannot wait. Winter is a dormant season for many beings and things, including creativity for many of us. On that note, I wrote the guest blog post “Seasonal Creativity: How I Stay Creative in the Cold of Winter” for Word Dreams about this very topic. [read about seasonal creativity]

You might also enjoy the short essay I wrote about the concept of “letting go.” I found inspiration for this when I took a leisurely walk along the creek in my neighborhood. See what I discovered as I watched the powerful waters, and consider what you might be able to let go of. (Bonus: Includes some calming snippets of the water and ice.) [read about letting go]
Last, but far from least, I graduated from a six-month YTT program, which means I’m now a Certified Yoga Teacher. I plan to use this certification to continue to write about yoga philosophy and to lead yoga retreats. (You might even catch me substituting a class here and there!) My next retreat is March 14 at East Cincy Yoga, where we’ll go over yoga concepts for “on and off the mat,” including journaling, group discussions, and yoga asana. I’m considering having an online option for this, so if that’s something you’d be interested in, reply to this email and let me know. [learn about the retreat here]
Thank you for being a part of the LifeSoup community. I hope you find something that moves you in the articles above. Someone recently said she didn’t know how I fit everything into my busy day…I can tell you that it starts the night before with things like gratitude journaling and spiritual literature before falling into a good night’s sleep. From there on out, it’s a combination of passion, drive, time management, and mad typing skills! 🙂
Peace, love, and more peace,
Cherie Dawn
P.S.
Just for fun, I thought I’d share an older poem of mine about dance. If you love dance and/or poetry, maybe take a look! [read the poem]
Also, my artist friends should check out the next big art event I’m covering for Streamline Publishing in April – it’s called Plein Air Live and it’s guaranteed to be a blast (with tons of learning, networking, and painting)! [learn more]
